Entry #9 Paint the town Red40

Image
I was doing research, and I came across and clicked on a website that says Why is red 40 banned and I was very curious, so I clicked on to see what it was talking about and knowing it is banned in multiple countries. Red 40 surprises me, and how common it is, and how little most of us think about it. Red 40 shows up in everything from candy to sports drinks to cereal. It's basically used to make food look more exciting and more appealing. But what caught my eye is that this dye has been linked to things like ADHD and hyperactivity in kids, and something added just for color can still have an effect on the body.   Learning about it made me look at colorful food differently. Just because something is bright and colorful doesn't make it better sometimes it just means it's been processed more. It made me realize how often we judge food by how it looks instead of what's actually in it and what it can do to are body. My main takeaway is that it's worth paying attention t...

Entry #10 Blind Dream

Image
Hello classmates! For my last blog post, I really wanted to talk about whether blind people see in their dreams. Shocking that they are unable to see in their dreams because their brains never experience sight. Their dreams consist only of sound, smell, and touch, etc. So overall, their dreams only consist of things they've encountered. This can be important to those who've never experienced being blind or known someone who was blind firsthand. Image Source To add on, this is very important to know because being blind is not always developed at birth and can occur later on in life to anyone, so knowing this can educate many people, as it can be them who become blind one day. Blind To end this blog post, I hope I have educated those who did not know how sleeping is for those who are blind and help others get a clear understanding of life for blind people.

Entry #8 How to use a 100 percent of your brain

Image
Hey, my fellow classmates! Did you know there have been theories that you can use close to 100 percent of your brain? I learned this from a Gia gov document that I read. The theories state that you can use close to 100 percent of your brain through hypnosis, transcendental meditation, and biofeedback.  Gia.Government Hypnosis works by relaxing the mind so the part that usually questions things becomes quieter. When that happens, suggestions can reach the deeper part of your brain more easily, making you more open to ideas. Transcendental meditation is a simple thing you practice where you sit down quietly in a quiet environment and repeat a personal mantra to help your mind relax. By focusing on the mantra, your thoughts slow down, and you enter a calm, peaceful state that can reduce stress and improve focus. Biofeedback is a way you can use sensors to show you things like your heart rate or muscle tension, so you can learn to control them. By watching your body's reactions o...

Entry #7 Food

Image
I finish watching Food, Inc I was surprised to see how much of our food is produced by a small number of large companies and how little I truly knew about where it comes from. The movie shows animals in a factory farm, a slaughterhouse, and the industrial process that produces the food we buy in supermarkets. It also explains how grain is used in nearly every industry since it is popular and cheap rather than healthful. In the film, real video and interviews are used to show how the system functions and what it keeps from the viewers. I was mostly surprised and feeling bad at first. I have seen how badly animals are handled, mainly the chickens, which blows my mind. I was also surprised to learn that the government also defends large corporations at the cost of regular citizens. It was clear how powerful corporations are when farmers were penalized for speaking out. The movie also served as a reminder of how processed and designed our food is, as how simple it is to ignore health ...

Entry #7 Fresh Sustainable Food Production in America

Image
How is food produced and the effects it has on the environment? Fresh America's Sustainable Food Production causes you to stop. It highlights the issues with industrial farming while showcasing small farmers, neighborhood markets, and chefs involved with responsible food production. Anyone who eats, which is basically everyone, is the audience. Instead of making you feel overwhelmed, the general mood is positive and confident.  The farmers' commitment and the harm industrial farms due to the environment were what most impressed me. It was terrible to witness damaged soil and water, but it was encouraging to see efforts being made to improve the system. It caused me to consider what I eat and how I may purchase more nutritious foods or support nearby farmers. All things considered, Fresh is a significant movie. It is significant because it links our diet to more significant concerns like the environment, justice, and health. although it's simple to ignore the sources of foo...

Entry #6 Time Slips

Image
One of the weirdest things people talk about is something called time slips. It's when time feels like it jumps or disappears for a moment, and no one can explain why. Some people say they'll be walking or driving, and suddenly everything gets quiet like the world hit pause. When things feel normal again, a few minutes are somehow gone, and they have no idea what happened during that time. ( Video On YouTube ) The creepy part is that people say they were fully awake when it happened. Some notice the place they're in suddenly looking different for a second, almost like they skipped ahead without moving. Others say they hear a strange buzzing right before it happens. Scientists usually say it's stress or your mind drifting, but some stories don't fit that. A few people even said they experienced it at the same time as someone else, which makes it even stranger. No one really knows what causes it, but time slips make you realize how weird the world can be. Sometimes i...

Entry #5 "Baseball Dad "Mayhem

Image
I watched the Allstate "Mayhem" commercial titled "Baseball Dad." (30-second spot) I watched the Allstate "Mayhem" commercial titled "Baseball Dad"  (on YouTube). In this ad, Mayhem plays as a baseball dad at his son's baseball game and just comments. Mayhem is seen with a baseball bat rocking left to right and then ends up tossing the baseball bat near a parked car. A woman is in the driver's seat, about to back out. When Mayhem throws the ball too high, it drops onto the windshield and shatters it. She panics, slams the car into reverse, and hits a utility pole. The light on top of the pole falls and hits onto the back of her car. The whole chain of events happens fast, showing how quickly a small mistake can turn into a big accident. Target Audience & Purpose The ad is aimed at drivers and families who want dependable insurance. Its purpose is to show how unpredictable everyday moments can be, even when you're just sitting in ...
